Every Tile: Flow Puzzle - Start with a small set of rules
I'm Julio Dutra, a solo indie developer at Crazy Minds Game Studio. I made Every Tile: Flow Puzzle, a casual logic puzzle. The idea is deliberately simple. Connect the paths, turn every tile blue, and reach the final tile. There are no characters to level up, no complicated abilities, no timer, and no large systems around the board. The challenge comes from the level design and from the decision the player makes.

The interesting part is the small ruleset

That simplicity is also what makes the game interesting to build. I wanted to see how much challenge can come from a very small set of rules. A puzzle can make the player stop, think, and try a path. Then they notice that a move which looked obvious was a mistake. A short list of rules, and the level built from them, is enough to create that moment.

What I can actually judge

As a solo developer, I check the core of the game. Does it feel good to play? Is the objective clear right away? Does the level create an interesting decision? Does the solution feel earned?

An older idea, a tighter game

Every Tile was influenced by one of my earlier projects, BLLUBY. That game was one of my first attempts at making a game on my own. At the time, I had much less experience with game design, product design, monetization, and marketing. Years later, with more experience as a game programmer and developer, I went back to that idea and approached it differently. Every Tile: Flow Puzzle is a much more focused game. Simple rules lead into harder problems.

Room for a longer session

The game also has hints and daily rewards, so people have a reason to come back. The core stays straightforward. A player can solve one puzzle in a few minutes, or keep going through levels that get harder.

What I would tell another indie

For other indie developers, the useful part is the order of the work. Begin with a very small set of rules. Then spend the effort making those rules produce interesting decisions.

Where it stands

Every Tile: Flow Puzzle is available on Android. I am also exploring a WebGL version so the game can run in a browser.
